At a ceremony at the British Library in London, Wednesday 23 February, the following awards and commendations were presented:* Best sustainability report - Co-operative Financial Services* Best social report - FRC Group* Electronic Media Commendation - two joint winners, Co-operative FinancialServices (Sustainability Report 2003) & BT Group plc (BT Social andEnvironmental Report)The Electronic Commendation (EMC) is awarded by ACCA in partnership withCorporateRegister.com This year over 70 electronic reports, in both PDF andHTML formats, were considered. The judging panel debated the specificqualities of good electronic reporting. Because publishing on the internetrequires a different approach to the printed medium (the communicationsaspect is particularly important) the areas of accessibility and usabilitydeserve special mention. As in previous years, the 2004 EMC judging panelincluded a specialist from the Royal National Institute for the Blind(RNIB).Both the EMC winning reports are easy to navigate with good site maps, aconcise summary, extensive links and cross-references, and specific sectionson accessibility.
