Compared to the past, developing a communication strategy that also takes “listening” into account has become increasingly important and necessary in all organizations. This is simply because the complexity of social, economic, geopolitical, and technological changes has meant that organizations have not only had to continuously adapt on multiple levels, but have also had to structure these transformations in a collaborative and cohesive manner with all internal stakeholders. Listening can certainly help address these types of challenges.
In this regard, Jim Macnamara—in addition to his numerous previous contributions on the subject—has shared some insights on the Authentic Glow Worms website that aim to clarify the key characteristics to consider when building an effective listening approach within any organization.
