LEARNING TO TEACHA seminar for public relations professionals who are interested in transitioning into teaching

As of April 2006, PR-education.org lists 85 faculty positions available and PROFESSIONALS are WANTED to bring public relations experience into the classroom. One of these positions can be yours if you know the ins and outs of higher education.
This one-day PRSA workshop will feature three sessions outlining what your teaching choices are, how to find a job and how to succeed in the university setting.

Four professors with 76 years of combined experience in the profession and more than 40 years of teaching experience will tell you what you need to know to develop a successful career as a PR educator.
Barbara DeSanto, Ed.D., APR, Fellow PRSA, brought to the classroom 20 years of public relations experience in tourism and government affairs. She is now a tenured associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and coordinator of graduate studies in consortium withuniversities in England, Sweden, New Zealand and the Netherlands. She is past head of the AEJMC Public Relations Division and co-editor of PRSA's Learning To Teach book for new educators.
Susan Gonders, Ed.D., brought to the classroom 21 years of public relations experience serving more than 300 clients. She is now a tenured full professor at Southeast Missouri State University, head of the public relations program and advisor to PRSSA-SE. She is newsletter editor for both the PRSA Educators Academy and the AEJMC Public Relations Division.
Michael Parkinson, Ph.D., J.D., APR, brought to the classroom 10 years of public relations experience and 11 years of experience as a practicing attorney. He is now a tenured full professor at Texas Tech University, head of graduate students and advisor to PRSSA-Texas Tech. He is research chair of the PRSA Educators Academy and vice head-elect of the AEJMC PublicRelations Division.
Robert "Pritch" Pritchard, M.A., APR, Fellow PRSA, U.S. Navy Captain (ret.), brought to the classroom 25 years of experience in military public affairs from the continental U.S. to Hawaii and Europe. He is now a tenure-track assistant professor at Ball State University and chair of thePRSA Educators Academy.
